  • My First Tech Article

A few weeks ago I was minding my own business at work, writing a Greasemonkey script to solve a problem I had, when I noticed that apparently I had found the solution for a GM problem that not only I had but a number of other people as well. So, I tinkered and tinkered and tinkered some more and discovered that I had managed to write something fairly wicked that I had never seen before.

  • Reusable Components, Today: Keyboards

A dirty, dirty, dirty keyboard can be cleaned thoroughly easily, it doesn’t necessarily have to be thrown away—you can reuse it! Here’s how. Unplug the keyboard. Then disassemble it, usually that means taking out the screws in the back and ending up with one plastic board holding all the keys and the (more or less) fancy casing. If the cable can be detached, even better. Now, take the key board and the casing and put it in a dishwasher.

  • Nintendo Wii: A Wee Review

Gots me one of them Wiis the other day. Got Monkeyball and Rayman, but always ended up playing Wii Sports with Dana for hours so far—mostly Bowling and Golf. It’s surprisingly, insanely fun. Really well done. The fact that she likes the Bowling game so much alone was well worth the price. I am sporadically online, if you want my Wii code, drop me a line, you know how to reach me.

  • Wii would like to buy

Heute Deutschlandstart vom Nintendo Wii.

  • TV Review: "Heroes"

So… [Heroes][http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/]. I watched the pilot and the first episodes over the last few days, and to be honest—I couldn’t stop. It’s all around a great show so far, from story (great) to writing (great) to acting (great) to everything else (great). ![Heroes: Mohinder][https://attic.czm.io/blog-assets/2006/12/hro_1001_057.jpg] Somewhere, I read something about the show along the lines “X-Men, before they became X-Men”. And actually, it’s not far from the truth. The story (or stories) are those of ordinary people today who discover they can do extraordinary things; they are the next steps in human evolution.

“Ehrlich? Wo denn?” “Da, beim Roten Kreuz!” und grinste. “Oh, da helfen Sie dann Kranken?” – “Ja!” – “Klasse, find ich gut.

  • 🍿 Kurzreview: Woody Allen, Scoop

  • EVE... Stop hurting me, baby

When Hendrik dropped a few bomb shells about the upcoming EVE expansion, I was feeling a bit unsure at first. On the one hand, I love playing with him. (Yes, I know how this sounds.) Plus, EVE consumed quite a bit of my time in the past; actually I dropped out and in a few times by now right from the beginning. On the other hand, my relationship with EVE was always somewhat …abusive; I wanted to like EVE, I actually still do, but she kept hitting me over and over again.

  • Cursing 101

I am one of the “if you want to do it, do it right” school. I try to make it apply to everything. This is the reason why I am kind of ticked off when I hear people say things like “Oh my Gosh!" or “Jeeebus!". Anyways, this “conversation” occured two minutes ago in our office: A (female): “Fudge!” me: “The word is ‘fuck’, not ‘fudge’. Curse properly, woman.”

  • Wordpress Woes and WTFs

Well, the decision has been made—it certainly feels weird. The nice (?) side effect is my newly written Wordpress importer for RSS 2.0 and Blogcomments Module support (catchy name). Download it, put it in your WP root folder in /wp-admin/import/ and rename it to rss_2_plus_blogcomments.php. Then run the import from your WP dashboard, that’s all there is to do. Use it, abuse it, spread it, have fun. Which reminds me: why is the original WP 2.

  • 25peeps.com

My good friend Hendrik gave birth (ewww) to a new site (phew…) called 25peeps.com. Now, here’s the scoop: I have no fucking idea what this site is. He wrote it in just 2 hours. At the moment, my picture is pretty much at the top, which makes this site so much more attractive. ;) It’s sort of a social-networking-meets-pr0n-thumbnail-gallery-site-meets- linkblo g-meets-OMG-I’m-on-the-internet thing. As I’ve said, I don’t know what’s up with it.

  • Tales from the Auction House, part 1

Bought an Hakkari Coin at the AH for the great price of 5g 78s. Wanted to resell it for a better price (better for me). When I realized I had put it up for auction for 7s minimum bid and 9s buyout, it was to late. Argh! Well, live and learn. Thank God it wasn’t real money. :) World of Warcraft, giving you all the joy and excitement of Ebay without the real life pain you might go through…

w00h00! It’s official now, it seems! Excellent news. I was suspecting that del.icio.us would be bought sooner or later by one of the major players, but I’m glad to see it’s us. :)

  • WoW EU

By the way, I’ve cancelled my US subscription and set up shop at Argent Dawn EU. Ambea, Tauren druid. A wholly new experience. First, the damn timezones “lag” is gone. The first evening of play in Mulgore I was wondering whether my video card was broken, until I realized I was witnessing night fall. Oh right, none of that -6hrs shit anymore! Very good. Then there are so many people. Again, playing in the same timezone as everyone else is really making a difference.

  • I'm alive. Rejoice!

Huh, a few months since my last post, eh? Bummer. Time flies when you’re having fun or when you’re busy. Or both. Since I’ve joined Yahoo! Germany in October the size of my brain has increased a bit, I think. Awesome company. My abilities are useful here, and I’m learning quite a bit, which is a great combination in my book. I feel welcome. During the (rather lengthy) interview process I’ve had the feeling they are actually interested in my personality; turns out I was right – I was in fact tested for “group compatibility”.

  • About the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee

What a wonderful little story I’ve found over at Spreading Goodwill: THE MAYONNAISE JAR AND 2 CUPS OF COFFEE When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee… A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

  • Hot Interracial Deeprun Tram Encounters!

Discord :: View topic - Roleplaying Realms Rule: Out of sheer boredom and the need to do a little PvP research, I recently found myself exploring the Deeprun Tram on a local roleplaying server. With exploration under way, I trekked deep within the confines of the tram and found something rather unusual. What was this standing before me? Two naked night elves of course. Hijinks ensued. Update 2007-02-07: Apparently I still get a number of hits from Google for this story.

  • The gerbil's on fire

2-days shopping spree in order to get dressed for next weekend, where two of our friends are celebrating their wedding. I just remembered how much I hate buying clothes. It’s not that I don’t find anything at all, but I get angry by looking at price tags. A jeans for €189? A jeans? WTF? Is the part where my package is held laced with platinum? It’d better be. Anyways, after visiting the usual suspects (Esprit, H&M, a number of local men outfitters etc.

  • Translators needed

I need some translators for BetterSearch, since the upcoming version 1.9 will introduce localization. I have English, German, Italian and Catalan language files so far; I’m looking for French, Spanish and everything else at the moment. The translation process is rather simple, you’d have to edit two text files and replace English phrases with ones in your language. :) If you want to know more, take a look, please. Thanks!

  • Weekend WoW roundup

So, let’s see… DING – Graun reached season 50! Then I’ve had a very nice conversation with a human priest or warrior (?) named Ptalaphose about the future of the Alliance. I met a friendly Night Elf priest named Avaa which in Felwood. Our paths happened to cross a few times again. A overly pleasant lass. She invited me to run a few Zul’Farrak errands together with her and a few of her friends.

  • 🎵 Music review: Between Interval, "Radio Silence"

It’s great, get it now. (If you don’t believe me right away, then take a look at the Between Interval site. There you can listen to the whole album for free; that’s right, 75 minutes of ambient pleasure for your ears. Doesn’t cost you anything. Nothing, nada, bupkis. Then, if you like it (and if you, like me, like a healthy dose of ambient music, you’ll love it), you can buy it as DRM-free, high-quality MP3 files for €5.

  • Mature Irish Men Making Music In Munich

We had tickets for the U2 concert here in Munich last night, and we had a blast. Great concert. Bono saved the World two times, I think. :) Unsorted impressions: too much rain (1.5 hours, we were soaking wet), Keane as warming-up band, I stood in line for beer for 45 damn minutes, public transportation was overloaded (‘twas like Woodstock without the music), nice symbolic slogan (“CoeXisT”), too frickin’ loud.
